Grandma's Visit

Grandma came for a wonderful visit. The kids had a great time. Everyone enjoyed the apple and pumpkin picking. The apples were delicious as was the apple crisp and apple sauce made from them. Caitlin and Grandma made some yummy food together. We are grateful for the time we were able to spend together. Thank you to everyone who made the trip possible, especially with Mary feeling so poorly.

Kim's Half Marathon

Kim finished her first half marathon. She was able to finish is nearly the exact time she had planned. We are very proud of her. The kids had a great time cheering her on. Caitlin now likes to go for races around the house. Sadly though her bear, Lullaby, frequently falls during the races and needs a band aid.

Grandma and Albie Leave

We had a great time with Grandma and Albie. Jack walks around saying "Albie". We were able to celebrate Caitlin, Chris and Albie's birthday. Although, Kim and I had to fly to Vegas to celebrate Chris's. We are looking forward to our next visit at Christmas time.

Caitlin's Birthday

Caitlin had her 3rd birthday. Grandma and Albie came to town to celebrate. We had a small party with a couple of friends at our house. Everyone had a good time. The theme was "Cat in the Hat" I learned that a bunch of balloons can make a room full of kids very happy.

Back Home

Well, we have been home for a few weeks. We went peach picking and Kim has made some very good peach crisp. Both Caitlin and Jack like the tractor ride at the farm. We enjoyed days at the park and smelling the flowers. We spent several days and evening at the local pools. The county pool has a large water slide that both Caitlin and Jack can ride with us. It has been very enjoyable.

I have returned to teaching after a nice summer break. Kim is preparing for her semester to start. The big news is that Caitlin started preschool this past week. Jack also started day care. Caitlin has been very excited about school. She appears to be having fun, and learning new things, not all of which are good. Jack, on the other hand, has not transitioned as easily. He spent much of the beginning of the first day crying. He is settling down, but still is upset when we have to leave him. He is also growing increasingly attached to his teddy bear, which is very cute.

The trip ends

The day after our trip to Knott's we were able to spend some time with Betsy, Nathan and Matthew at a water park. We all had a good time.

On Augusts 7th we celebrated Kim's birthday with a trip to Padaro Grill. Kevin Costner was there the week before when we had lunch, but he did not show up for Kim's birthday. The kids enjoyed the sand pit and the food was great.

Sadly the trip had to come to an end. We spent the last night back in L.A. with Dan and the family. The next day we returned to Spokane. It has taken us a few weeks to get back into the swing of things.

Thank you again to everyone, especially Mary, Robert, Dan and Danielle for giving us places to stay.
